Hello, hello! Polish Pickup brings us Fairy Tales this November! I’ve always loved fairy tales and still read them currently. I particularly enjoy good retellings of the classics. In some ways, this is what our makers will be doing this round. I’ve got 14 fantastic items to show you. Let’s jump right into Polish Pickup: Fairy Tales!
Polish Pickup is a fun Facebook Group where members submit and vote for one theme for the month. Afterward, indie makers create a polish or product based on the decided theme. Members can make purchases through the Polish Pickup website during the four-day shopping window, where you can pick as little or as many items as you desire. The flat rate shipping price of US $3.00/CAD $5.00 is the cherry on top. Evidenced by its rapid growth, PPU is a very clever concept that has introduced me to many new indie brands, as well as given a wider stage for smaller, well-loved ones.
Recently Indie Pickup has been following the same sale and shipping schedules as Polish Pickup and this month, posts from makers are being combined in the Polish Pickup Facebook group. Indie Pickup was created to house most of the extra non-polish items that came along after the explosive growth of Polish Pickup. The Facebook group still exists but has been made redundant, with all sharing being move to the Polish Pickup Facebook Group. All your Pickup products in one place!
Polish Pickup November 2019 – Fairy Tales
Baby Girl Lacquer – The Midas Touch
King Midas
Magnetic
Nene chose King Midas as her inspiration for The Midas Touch. She describes her polish as a golden magnetic multichrome with chameleon flakes, magnetic chameleon flakes, golden micro flakes and glitters blended throughout. I enjoy the overall warmth of this polish. It is heavily pigmented and might be capable of stamping, I didn’t test that though.
I did have issues with the magnetic properties in that I could barely pull it forward. I even used my jumbo magnet, but nothing marked happened, just a subtle line that quickly dissipated. This was passed on to the maker to make her aware. The polish leans toward thick but is manageable. I’m wearing two to three coats with a glossy topcoat
*Update: Nene has tweaked her polish and updated the description to reflect that. It is now a golden-bronze polish with chameleon flakes, magnetic chameleon flakes, golden micro flakes and glitters blended throughout. The price has been lowered as well.

By Dany Vianna – To The Moon And Back
Guess How Much I Love You Story Book
Dany’s inspiration really tugged at my heart. Guess How Much I Love You was a book set gifted to me as a new mother and one I enjoyed reading to my young ones. Dany also worked on some lettering to best inspire her contribution. The polish is a warm grey with a mix of gold and holographic flakies within. It’s an effortless polish to apply with a soothing quality. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
I choose the Guess How Much I Love You bedtime story because ever since I came across it (not as a child being Brazilian and living here) it always brings me back the importance on reassuring that the kids in our lives are loved no matter what.
Also because it melts my icy heart every single time no matter what. Because it’s such a sweet way to say I love you without saying the three famous little words.

Cameo Colours Lacquers – Not All Tales Have An Ever After
Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales Book Cover
I’m loving Cameo’s inspiration and shade for November. This is a book I own (a different edition) and is well loved. Not All Tales Have An Ever After is a rust toned, deep brick red jelly, full of color shifting flakes that move from lime to copper to blue, It also has a metallic gold and silver holographic micro flakes, scattered holographic sparkle, and a dusting of lime to gold iridescent micro glitter. As with Cameo’s mixes, it sounds busy but it goes so effortlessly together and has a very straightforward application for all it entails. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.

Glisten & Glow – Wrong Lever!
Yzma & Kronk, Emperor’s New Groove
Aurora
Once again, Jill has two items for us this round. Her polish is inspired by Yzma & Kronk from The Emperor’s New Groove. Wrong Lever! Is a stunner a polish! The base is a rich navy which has been infused with pink to purple to orange to green shifting aurora shimmer. The application is stellar and I almost got away with needing only one coat. I wasn’t able to capture the color shifts as well as I would have liked, but I think it’s still captured well. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.

JReine Cosmetics – Destiny Pixie Magic Kit
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Jill drew from The Nightmare Before Christmas for her two items for November. As with many, we watch this movie often in our house. My ten year old is obsessed with it and has been playing the soundtrack for the couple months. My youngest, on the other hand, keeps questioning why we need to watch it again. He’ll catch on.
Jill’s Pixie Magic Kit this time is the shade, Destiny. Destiny is burnishing powder that shifts from green to teal to violet to fuschia. I’m wearing it over Jill’s Royalty, a cobalt creme which is included in the kit! Yep! It comes with a creme polish too.
The kit comes complete with Jill’s Super Base sticky base coat, the pixie magic powder in Destiny, Royalty and an applicator.

Moonflower Polish – La Belle
Belle’s Dress, Beauty and the Beast
Nadia drew inspiration from Belle’s dress and the gold details in the ballroom scene of the live action version of Beauty and the Beast. La Belle is an antique gold stamping polish with a touch of yellow to green color shifting shimmer and gold sparkle. The polish leans slightly thick with a bit of a syrupy consistency. Nadia did mention the possible need for thinner, but I didn’t need to add any. It applied well as a polish and stamped with ease. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat
Due to a pigment shortage, Nadia has a lower cap than usual which has been approved by PPU admin.

Necessary Evil Polish – Sugar Plum Fairy Wax
Sugar Plum Fairy
Tamara’s yummy wax is a mix of sweet sugared plums and crisp citrus. The scents intertwine well so it really just smelled like a tart plum with a touch of sweetness on the edges. I’m so in love with the wax melt itself. It’s a pink and white heart topped with filigree swirls, floral tones and a dusting of holographic pigment.

Sweet & Sour Lacquer – True Love’s Fire-st Kiss
Dragon from the Shrek Movies
Darlene’s polish is inspired by the scene where the Dragon flirts with Donkey while everything around them burns and crumbles. True Love’s Fire-st Kiss has a ruby red linear holographic base to which copper sparks, blue to violet to red and fuchsia to green to goldUCC flakes are added. It also has a smattering of violet shimmer. The polish goes on sheer but builds to intensity with ease. I enjoy how the contrast of flakes work in here. I’m wearing three coats with a glossy topcoat.

Vapid Lacquer – Lonely Hunter
Once Upon A Time
Vapid has three products this round! Krys is back with a polish inspired by the “Heart is a Lonely Hunter” episode on the show, Once Upon A Time. I used to love that show! The polish has a blood red jelly base with ultra chrome flakes that move from red to orange to gold to green with a sprinkling of linear holographic sparkle. This is a great Fall-worthy shade with a fiery glow from the flakes. I has an easy, jelly application with the flakies giving that extra squishy look. I’m wearing three coats with a glossy topcoat.

Vapid Lacquer – Poisoned Apple Whipped Soap
Snow White’s Poisoned Apples
Krys’ second is her fluffy whipped soap in the scent Poisoned Apple. The scent boasts top notes of sweet and juicy apple with smoky woods. This mingles with touches of sweet cotton candy, warm vanilla and creamy coconut. Yes, it’s complex to be sure, but it all works into a yummy apple by the campfire.
The fluffy whipped soap has a thick quality like a firm body butter and rubs into lather easily. It has a moisturizing quality and can double as a shaving soap. It is free of exfoliating agents; just a smooth soap. The scent lingers for a while after being rinsed off.
This is a collaboration scent with Jenn of Vapid Wax. Her’s is up next!

Vapid Wax – Poisoned Apple
Snow White’s Poisoned Apples
Jennifer mixed up another yummy wax for us, inspired by Poisoned Apples. As mentioned above, this is a collaboration scent with Krys of Vapid Lacquer. Poison Apple melts to reveal top notes of sweet and juicy apple with smoky woods. This mingles with touches of sweet cotton candy, warm vanilla and creamy coconut.
The first thing that greeted me is the juicy apple with the chasing of smokiness. It’s full to bursting yet not overly sweet. For me, the apple scent is more prevalent in the wax than in the whipped soap; there, I get more of that smokiness.
Poisoned Apple wax is colored pinkish red and comes in a 3 oz clamshell block. The wax is adored with a white poisoned apple that glows in the dark!
