Hello! Today is the first day of the Cocktails and Mocktails round of Polish Pickup. Since I’m running late on opening day, I’m gonna just right into the goodies, first with a preamble about Polish Pickup and a quick eye to eye with me. Not that I needed the theme, but I have my drink in hand and I hope you have yours too! Let’s take a look at Polish Pickup June 2020: Cocktails & Mocktails!
Polish Pickup is a fun Facebook Group where members submit and vote for one theme for the month. Afterward, indie makers create a polish or product based on the decided theme. Members can make purchases through the Polish Pickup website during the four-day shopping window, where you can pick as little or as many items as you desire.
Updated Shipping
There are now two US Shipping options. First, Flat rate shipping for US $3.00 gets your order shipped in bubble mailers or a priority box if needed. The second option is Upgraded Shipping for US $10.00. Upgraded Shipping gets your order shipped in a priority box and will include a charm and a free sample.
Shipping to Canada is tiered based on weight, and international shipping is also available. There’s even a sister site now to accommodate orders from the UK and parts of Europe. Evidenced by its rapid growth, PPU is a very clever concept that has introduced me to many new indie brands, as well as given a wider stage for smaller, well-loved ones. Check out the handy PPU FAQ for lots more information!
As of now, Indie Pickup has been following the same sale and shipping schedules as Polish Pickup where posts from makers are being combined in the Polish Pickup Facebook group. Indie Pickup was created to house most of the extra non-polish items that came along after the explosive growth of Polish Pickup. The Facebook group still exists but has been made redundant, with all sharing being move to the Polish Pickup Facebook Group. All your Pickup products in one place!
I know most of you are here for purchasing information and maybe a pretty form of distraction. As always, I’m so thankful you’ve included me in your day. I’m not sure how the past few days have affected you. It feels callous to not acknowledge how the ill-treatment of Blacks and other minorities has reached a boiling point, not only here in America but spouting tremoring demands for change around the world. Behind this post is a proud, Afro-Caribbean, Black woman who has seen the polish world come together for various reasons. I want to encourage and challenge you to take the steps necessary to educate yourself on what it takes to be anti-racist. Resources on education and donating toward change are everywhere!
Polish Pickup has provided the opportunity to make donations toward Lake Street in Minnesota.“Funds donated here will be used to help rebuild the Minneapolis businesses impacted by the riots [via] Welovelakestreet.com.” Also, “100% of charm sales made from June 5 to June 8 will go toward the donation.”
Bluebird Lacquer – Booze Cruise
We start this off with Lou’s Booze Cruise! She even had a little song to go with it! Booze Cruise is an orchid neon crelly polish packed with contrasting green to purple to blue shifting Ultra Chameleon Chrome flakies. I’ve always loved this shade, particularly for Summer. The flakes in there rest easy and play nicely in the base. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Inspired by Cocktail. The classic 90’s story of a handsome bartenders struggle to mix the perfect drink while learning lessons about friendship, socio-economic prejudice, betrayal and redemption.

By Dany Vianna – Flounder Cocktail
I have to give hats off to Dany as she had to scrap her first unstable thermal polish and quickly mix up this stunning replacement. Also, bear in mind that the brand By Dany Vianna is based in Brazil and as a yellow polish lover, I’m so glad she was able to pull through and birth this beauty!
This is Flounder Cocktail! It’s inspired by an orange juice and Curacao Blue drink which reminded Dany of Flounder the fish. Flounder Cocktail has a bright yellow crelly base with blue Ultra Chameleon Chrome flakes mixed in. The application is smooth with the flakes appearing sporadically. I’m wearing three coats with a glossy topcoat.

Cameo Colours Lacquers – Blackberry Basil Moscow Mule
Blackberry Basil Moscow Mule
Cameo’s Blackberry Basil Moscow Mule features a copper to gold to green ultra chrome base packed with holographic sparkle, red to bronze to copper, and lime to blue to gold Ultra Chrome Chameleon flakes. It also has a sprinkling of silver holographic micro flakes. There’s a delicate balance to this polish that I absolutely love. It’s incredibly shifty with the flakes breaking things apart just a bit. Additionally, it would work beautifully as a topper. I’m wearing three coats with a glossy topcoat.

Color Spectrum Polish – Mango Lemon Rita
The Mango Meyers Lemon Margarita Mocktail served as inspiration for Shannon‘s June polish! Mango Lemon Rita has a lemon-yellow base with shimmery undertones that shift from green to pink to gold. Also featured is a delicate blend of rainbow iridescent flakes, and yellow to green chrome flakes! Mango Lemon Rita is pretty sheer upon first few brush strokes but it builds up nicely. This would also work well as a topper! The flakes in there are on the smaller side, giving this polish a delicate look. I’m wearing three coats with a glossy topcoat.

Glisten & Glow – Mountain Dew Mocktail
This is Jill’s take on the classic green soft drink. Mountain Dew Mocktail is a neon yellow jelly polish loaded with various shapes and sizes of black and black holographic glitters. I am so in love with this bold contrast! As expected, there is quite a bit of texture here from those black glitters. You can use one or two helpings of topcoat to smooth this over. I’m wearing two coats and a glossy topcoat.

Jior Couture – A Dirty Shirley
From Sacha, we have the grown people’s version of her childhood drink. A Dirty Shirley has a shifty red to orange jelly base with a red to orange to gold multichrome shift reminiscent of the orange juice, grenadine, and splash of vodka in this drink. Added in is a touch of red to gold to green aurora representing the super sweet maraschino cherries and adorning slice of lime. This shade is so warm and shifty, the best looking Dirty Shirley yet! I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.

JReine Cosmetics – On The Rocks
I’m all about these shifty polishes and our next one comes from Jill of JReine Cosmetics! On The Rocks is inspired by A Blue Crane and is a bright blue jelly bursting with chromatic shimmers that shift red to copper to gold to green. This is such an intense polish in its movements! My favorite capture is at an angle where you can appreciate all the color shifts. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.

Also from JReine is her pixie magic loose burnishing powder kit in the shade Lyra. Lyra has an intense shift featuring shimmering purple to violet to fuchsia to gold to green pigment. I’m wearing over Jill’s Royalty, a royal blue cream polish. Jill also sent me a bottle of her matte topcoat and of course I had to try it over Lyra in the last picture!
The kit makes the approach to burnishing so easy! It comes with Jill’s Super Base sticky base coat, the pixie magic powder in Lyra, and an applicator brush.

KB Shimmer – Secret Menu
Christy’s polish is so rich and lavish! It literally looks like you should be able to taste the color on it. Secret Menu is inspired by that famous “Pink Purple Drink.” This polish starts with an indigo base that quickly shifts to a bold purple and berry-esque fuchsia. At some angles, a siren-like green shows, while in different lighting you may see hints of lime or a softer pink. Yes, endless shifts!! Secret Menu applies like a dream, smooth and buttery. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Soft pink drinks, fruity purple drinks, ombre drinks, and more; with a siren in its logo, it is no wonder that the Seattle-based coffee joint tempts us with promises of pretty drinks. Hacking the menu to create beautiful and delicious drinks is a popular trend. These concoctions pop up on the internet, are blasted on social media, and quickly become staples on secret menus, much to the dismay of many a barista.

KB Shimmer – Hot Summer Nights
I know that I’ve loved many of Christy’s sugar scrub scents before, but now they all pale in the sensual splendor that is Hot Summer Nights! I want this scent in lotion, body spray, laundry detergent, and toothpaste. Oh! And my husband agrees!
Hot Summer Nights is described as holding the scent of a blended tropical drink. Juicy pineapple is the star of the show, while subtle supporting notes of coconut and mango give way to the sweet heat of spiced rum. Accented by soft swirls of peach, cream, and gold, this scrub mimics the frozen look of your favorite blender drinks for a tropical tub-time treat.
I love the scent of pineapple and it’s the first thing I notice here. There is warmth and weight from the rum, without it having that signature alcoholic smell. It’s sweet and sexy, warm and captivating!
On a hot summer night, a cool drink can make the ills of the world seem so distant. If it’s fruity and made in a blender, even better! With many forgoing the beach for backyards and vacations for staycations this summer, let KBShimmer’s Hot Summer Nights sugar scrub take you away to paradise without leaving your home.
Just a note, as the country heats up, scrubs will arrive softer, some with oil on the top. This is normal as we design the scrubs to melt with body temperature. The scrubs can be stirred, and if you desire a more firm scrub, just pop it in the fridge.
Nailed It Nail Polish – No Way, Rosé
Are yall catching the glow on Tiara’s No Way, Rosé?! This is a peachy pink jelly, bubbling with gold to green crystal flakes and a complementing gold to green shifting shimmer. Despite the flakie overload, I had no issues while applying. I enjoy the warmth and glow that comes off this one! I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.

Starlight & Sparkle – Butterfly Lemon Drop Slush
Issa of Starlight and Sparkles was inspired by butterfly pea flower! She included some of the butterfly pea flower tea, which you will also receive with your order! Issa informed that the butterfly pea flower tea is initially blue, but when it’s exposed to something acidic, it brightens to purple, and then to pink! I was very eager to try this! Even though I knew was to expect, it was still such a fun surprise to see the color change when I squeezed lime into my tea. Also, it is delicious!
Butterfly Lemon Drop Slush is a magenta-purple polish with blue and purple color shifting aurora flakes, translucent blue flakes, blue-purple iridescent glitter, and a touch of color shifting blue-purple shimmer! It also has a bit of a creamy quality while maintaining it’s squishiness. I’m wearing three coats with a glossy topcoat.

Sweet & Sour Lacquer – Black Magic
How gorgeous is Black Magic! There is some texture left from the pretty glitters so be sure to apply a good topcoat. I’m wearing three coats with a glossy topcoat.
Darlene will be donating $1.00 of each bottle sold to the American Online Giving Foundation. It’s an organization she found through her job, who is matching donations 2:1 and is working with them for the distribution of these donations, to make sure that the proceeds are being distributed accordingly while cutting processing costs of these donations.
