The April edition of the Holo Hookup is a warming welcome to Spring shades. In this box, we have a lovely mix of pastel holographic polishes which draw inspiration from some of our favorite mythical creatures. This month’s guest is Vanessa of Illyrian Polish. Yep, good things all around. Let’s take a look at The Holo Hookup’s Mythical Creatures!
Mythical Creatures – Holo Hookup
The Holo Hookup is a monthly box that features three permanent makers. Sara of Cupcake Polish, Missi of Different Dimensions and Jill of Glisten & Glow invite another indie maker to create a polish to go along with a chosen theme. This month’s guest maker is Vanessa of Illyrian Polish. Let’s take a look!
Cupcake Polish – Nereid
Sara greets us with Nereid, a soft dove grey holographic has with iridescent flakes that shift blue to pink to orange, glitters that shift orange to green to red and a bright shimmer that moves between blue and pink. This was pretty easy to wear with the flakes, glitters and shimmers really coming to life when the light hits. There’s a very light texture which is easily smoothed out from topcoat. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Of course, I had to include some unicorn nail art for this box! How could I not!
Different Dimension – Alicorn
Alicorn is Missi’s contribution this month! This is a pretty pastel purple linear holographic which is accented by iridescent flakes and shifty colorful shimmers. Alicorn applies with the ease of a creme polish with a slight bit of texture from the flakes. Here, I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
I went with some pastel dotticure to accent this pale pastel base. Something about them remind me of candy.
Glisten & Glow – Centaur
Here we have Centaur from Jill. This one is my favorite from the set this round. Centaur features a light pastel pink holographic base with iridescent flakes and beautiful pink holographic micro glitters. This wears like a sweet nude on me and I’m really enjoying the slight pops of color from the added elements. Centaur dries to a bit more texture than the other three but smooths out easily. I’m wearing three coats with a glossy topcoat.
Can you spot the bunnies in there? I think this design would make a very pretty shirt.
Illyrian Polish – Sylph
Vanessa’s Sylph is a lovely pale sea foam holographic with a mix of micro holographic flakes and sparkles and iridescent flakes that move through pink, gold and green and gold, pink and orange and finally teal to purple. The iridescent flakes in here add so much fun and allure to this polish. There’s only a slight amount of drag during application from the flakes but everything behaves well. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
More unicorns! This time, I decided on a pastel gradient which shows a bit of hide and seek sometimes on this base.
If you’re looking for pastels to welcome Spring, this is a great way to do so!
