Okay! I know that I’m coming in terribly late with this (and my subsequent) post(s). I’m trying to claw myself into a manageable recovery mode after relentless migraines while trying to catch up on a bunch of posts; do bear with me. Starting this game of catch up is Christy’s newest’s collection inspired by one of her recent trips. I had a few nice surprises in the Wanderlust Collection, let’s get to it!
The Wanderlust Collection
Here’s a quote on what influenced Christy while she created this collection.
Wanderlust, a strong desire to travel. Traveling can introduce you to new art, crazy good food, and interesting new experiences that inspire. KBShimmer owner, Christy, is full of wanderlust and after a west coast trip, came back inspired by the laid-back vibe of Ventura, California. There, Christy spent a week crafting, learning, and enjoying new adventures. This seaside location was full of lush nature, calming beaches, and good times with friends, making this beach retreat the perfect place to envision shades of blue, green, pink and purple. So let the first Wanderlust collection by KBShimmer take you to the West coast shore, nail polish style.
Throughout this post, I will include Christy’s notes on what inspired the particular shades. I think these add to the feeling of joining her on her adventure in Cali and while creating this great collection.
Christy states that “Wander-ful world was inspired by the vibrant fashions and showy pink flowers of California.” The polish is a linear holographic in an electric magenta pink with a brilliant purple veering red flame. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
“California is known for amazing wine, and Moscato with its sweet, slightly bubbly flair was the perfect inspiration for this shimmery polish.” Hakuna Moscato is a jelly base packed with gleaming rose gold micro flakes and a sprinkling of micro holographic glitter. This polish has a very prominent glowing gold look which made it hard for my camera to focus sometimes. I’m wearing three thin coats with a glossy topcoat. Hakuna Moscato can also be worn over another shade as a topper to give off some rose gold flare.
Meet Me At The Barre
“When gathering with friends, the local bar is often the first place that is suggested, but with so many trying for a more active lifestyle, meeting at the barre for a workout might happen too!” Meet Me At The Barre is a pale pink cream with a light touch of coral. I’m wearing three coats with a glossy topcoat.
I found this shade on the thicker side which lead to a few issues with leveling. I did end up adding a few drops of polish thinner which rectified this issue for me.
Meet Me At The Barre made the perfect base for some watercolor succulents. Apart from nail polish, plants, including succulents are another one of the very few things I horde. These were done really quickly and I had a smudge when put on topcoat, but I’m pretty glad with how they turned out.
Cactus If You Can
This is Cactus If You Can! “This soft green shade is inspired by one of the best water-conserving plants, the cactus.” It also has a soft pink shimmer and micro holographic sparks. I’m wearing two coats with glossy topcoat.
Don’t Fear The Reefer
Here we have Don’t Fear The Reefer! Christy says “It is a sweet smell that many recognize from their college days…this once outlawed plant is now sold across California and inspired this minty aqua green shade.” The linear holographic in this shade is a bit heavy handed and I’m enjoying every minute of it. It’s one of my favorite picks! I”m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Now And Zen
Now and Zen is inspired by the ocean. “Walking down the coast, with the waves crashing, the gulls flying, and dogs running is the ideal way to center yourself for the day.” This one starts off in an ocean blue base with shimmer shifting from aqua to lavender and a addition of micro holo flakes for an extra touch of sparkle. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Succ It Up
Succ It Up was inspired by “the many types of succulents with their luscious shades of green, pink, purple and blue”. This is a shimmery medium purple with a blue to green shifting shimmer and holographic micro flakes. I’m wearing two coats with glossy topcoat.
Rise And Grind
Wrapping up the collection is this beauty. “Rise and Grind is a nod to those coffee lovers who enjoy a splash of milk, tall lattes or iced coffees.” This is a light chocolate brown linear holographic and my other favorite from the collection. I’m wearing three coats with a glossy topcoat.
For this look, I opted for a gradient, with the polish applied to the sponge at an angle instead of horizontally or vertically as I would normally do. The shades used here are Rise and Grind and Wander-ful World. I topped with a glossy topcoat.
This is a pretty great collection with shades that love the sun. The only hiccup I had was the thickness previously mentioned with Meet Me At The Barre.
The Wanderlust Collection is available starting June 15, noon from KB Shimmer Online
Tell me, what do you think of this collection? What was your favorite of Christy’s inspirations?
