Happy Monday, folks! I’ve got a pretty hefty post for you today featuring the Winter Releases from Vapid Lacquer. This release is 17 polishes strong. Yup, seventeen! It’s a beautiful mix of re-released cremes, remixes and a couple thermals. We’ve got lots of goodies to get through so let’s jump right into it!
Vapid Lacquer Winter 2018 Releases
The Winter Cremes were first released in 2015 and will be available as a set of seven at the first launch on 23 November then, as singles on the second launch later on. We’ll take a look at these first then move on to the remixes then the new shades.
As always, I’ll be adding any anecdotes from Krys which I think you would like to hear!
Brown Chicken Brown Cow
Brown Chicken Brown Cow is a yummy chocolate brown creme. It’s nearly one coat and dries to a beautiful glossy shine on its own. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Feed Me Grapes
Feed Me Grapes is a vibrant purple creme with a nice, glossy finish. It’s a bit sheerer on first coat but builds up nicely. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Netflix & Chill
Netflix & Chill is an easy blurple creme. Again, it has this beautiful glossy finish which is signature to these cremes. The first coat holds a bit of a sheerer quality than the others but it builds to depth quickly. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
There’s really only one way to say this name! Puhcock is a brilliant teal creme polish which really beckons images of it’s namesake. I’m wearing two coats with glossy topcoat.
Rock The Boat
How rich is Rock The Boat?! This is a navy blue creme which I was able to wear in only one coat. Here, I topped with a glossy topcoat.
Snuggle Monster is a bright and happy magenta to berry pink. As with the other cremes, the application is flawless and this is nearly a one-coater. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Wine 0’clock! I’m here to celebrate this! This is a beautiful berry wine creme which is almost wearable as one coat. Here, I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Dexter is one of the remixes of this releases. Krys wasn’t able to find the exact pigment she used in the original. Do know that she’s done her best to match it as close as possible the inspiration, her blue doberman, Dexter. 2018’s Dexter is a metallic charcoal grey base with a linear holographic flame. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Dexter: My very best boy, my best friend, my dog. Dexter is a tribute to my favorite furry boi….His coat shines almost metallic in the sun and that’s where this shade gets its inspiration.
Black Friday 2018
I’m quite excited to see the changes made to Black Friday. As you may know, I love a nude thermal and this is the new take on the classic dark look of Black Friday 2018. When cool, it’s a dark base which warms up to a nude, allowing a mix of copper and silver flakes to shine in both states. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Black Friday 2018 will be available only on Black Friday and will disappear at midnight if there’s stock left!
Happy Freakin’ New Year 2018
Happy Freakin’ New 2018 is full of sparkle and bling! This is exactly what you want in your New Year polish. The tweak to this year’s shade is the addition of an aurora glow which shifts magenta to purple to blue. This was added to the mixed base of linear, scattered, and flake silver holographic effect. This polish applies easily and dries nice and smooth. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Apricity is whoa!! This a mix sized of gold holographic glitters in a shifty, shimmery, iridescent base. This is pretty bold polish and would be great choice if you’re looking for a bling and bang! I’m wearing three thin coats on it’s own and used it as a topcoat over Feed Me Grapes. As you would expect, the polish dries very textured and a peel of base coat is your MVP here. A generous brushing of topcoat is needed to smooth things out.
Krys calls Apricity a Glittering Mess and marks it as her favorite!
Bitter is a teal leaning blue with shimmers shifting purple to glue and holographic particles to add a punch of sparkle. Something about shades like these leave me itching to paints some snowflakes on them. Here, I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Don’t Stop Believing
Tell me you didn’t just sing that title! Don’t stop believing is a classic Christmas red with twist. Mixed into the red base are warm iridescent flakes and a sprinkling of linear holographic. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Fiiive Goooldeeen Riiings!
I cannot begin to tell you how glad I was to see this name! My boys are obsessed with gold things and have Smeagoled themselves this one. Fiiive Goooldeeen Riiings is my top pick from this round of releases. This is a warm metallic gold with a copper shift. It’s pretty sheer on first brush which opens up its use as a topcoat. There’s a possibility for some brushstrokes, so be aware of this during your application. I’m wearing three coats with a glossy topcoat.
Blissfully Gaudy and Utterly Beautiful.
This is PANK! This is pretty bright, you guys, especially considering this a Christmas shade! I’m all about going non-traditional with color so I’m here for it! Pink Nightmare is a bright shimmery pink with a pink shimmer. The shimmery finish of this shade can lead to some brushstrokes, so be aware of this during your application. I’m wearing three coats with a glossy topcoat.
This shade pays homage to the classic Christmas movie “A Christmas Story” when Ralphie gets a bright pink bunny suit from his Aunt for Christmas.
Subnivean is the dark, broody one of the bunch. The base here is a deep forest green that shifts between green, blue and purple. I was able to pick up a lot more color that what translates here on camera. You know how that goes sometimes. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Sugar Plum Space Færie
Closing things off with the tri-thermal of the bunch; Sugar Plum Space Færie. How fun is that name! The base, when cold is a dark navy and goes from reddish pink to light purple when warm. In all states, a mix of purple to blue to magenta to gold iridescent shifting flakes and linear holographic can be spotted. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
