Two Vapid posts in a month, yay! Heads up, with Vapibirthday (Vapid Anniversary) coming up next month, there’ll be even more to chat about. But before I get carried away, let’s get back to the current situation. Krys has made a deliciously squishy jelly trio with some quirky names that only her strange genius mind can conjure. What they mean…I dunno, but they’re attached to pretty polish and that’s what we’re here for!
Okay, one more thing! The Limited Edition DAB preorder window closes on Friday right before this trio becomes available on Saturday. Once DAB dab’s out, she’ll be gone for good!
Vapid Lacquer June 2018 Jelly Jelly Trio
Octopsychedelia is a purple jelly base packed with iridescent flakes shifting purple to green and a nice fixing of aurora pigment for good measure. The green to red shift of the pigment gives this polish a lovely, warming, glow from within. I’m wearing three thin coats with a glossy top coat.
In comparison to the other two of the trio, Octo has a “mama bear” level flakes; stick with me here, this analogy will make sense. There’s quite a lot in there but it’s still easy to work with and they’re well behaved.
Here we have Animal Crackers! And holy mother of squishy things, you just want to pinch it’s cheeks! This is a bright pink jelly base with a truck load of iridescent flakes smooshed in. These flakes shift pink to gold to green along side a smattering of scatter holographic sparkles. I’m wearing three thin coats with a glossy topcoat.
Animal Crackers would be the “papa bear” of flake density among the three. Analogy catching on? It’s not as dense as a flake bomb, mainly because of the large size of these flakes. I’d suggest going in with a light touch when applying this one especially, so that your flakes lay properly and dry well in between coats.
Calamari Ice Cubes
Calamari Ice Cubes! These names, the visual images! This is a bright and squishy cobalt blue base with flakes that shift from purple to green to blue. It also has a dose of scattered holographic sparkles for extra punch. I’m wearing three coats with a glossy topcoat.
Calamari Ice Cubes would be the “baby bear” when it comes to flake density. The flakes are there, but they’re not as packed in; they’re just floating around in their lazy river.
Jellies Over Black
I wanted to see how these jelly flakies looked over black and I’m glad I indulged myself. From pointer to ring, we have Octo really showing off the aurora pigment, Animal Crackers then Calamari on the ring finger. Here, I used just one coat over black then topped with glossy topcoat. I’m loving the depth you get over black!
The June restock takes place on Saturday June 23rd at 2:00 pm, CT
