Are you tired of the unseemly “Spring” weather? Are you over the grey skies of April showers? Are you ready to get some brighter, warmer days? Luckily, so is Krys of Vapid Lacquer, and she’s channeling that longing into the eight deep and bright shades of her April 2018 releases. We have lots of shimmer with two of these being linear holographic and the potential for fun skittle manis and gradients. Oh! And they watermarble marvelously, with a few of them even stamping. Before I start rambling, let’s shake an angry fist to confused weather and skip happily into the pretties.
Trite is a majestic cobalt blue with blue and silver shimmer, and silver flecks. These flecks and shimmers give it a cool, metallic-looking finish that makes it even more vibrant when caught in the light. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat. Blue lovers, this one!
Ah, Concord! You make my purple heart sing! This is a rich grape purple with a happy pink shimmer that gives it a bright, flirty luminosity. Although this is a very deep shade (the deepest of the eight), it isn’t heavily pigmented and applies lightly on the first coat, but quickly builds by the second and third. In these pictures, I’m wearing three thin coats with a glossy topcoat.
I did experience some shimmers settling at the bottom of the bottle of Concord. This required an extra generous shake to get it all mingled. If you take a look at my bottle shot, you can see what I mean.
Conquest is another purple in the pack, this time with more berry in its tone. It has an electric purple/magenta shimmer giving it a lively, almost neon-esque flash. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Venus Fly Trap
Venus Fly Trap is easily my favorite from this collection! I’m absolutely in love with this energetic chartreuse, which Krys calls electric avocado green. A mixture of yellow and green shimmer with some yellow flecks allows it to straddle the line of being a neon green. The coolness of this tone washes me out a bit on camera, but gah, these shades feed my soul! I’m wearing three coats with a glossy topcoat.
Aquatica is an aquamarine green with green and silver shimmer. It has a very similar finish to Trite; a cool, metallic look. I’m wearing two coats with glossy topcoat.
Flamingle! Not only a fun word to say but also a fun one to wear! This is a perky barbie pink with an even brighter pink/magenta shimmer. It’s been on my toes for a few days now since it’s already approaching Summer here in Florida. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Tantrum is one of the two linear holographics in this release. It’s a fun, fuschia pink and the pink holographic makes it oh so lively! I’m wearing two coats with glossy topcoat.
Here is Hostile, the other linear holographic! Anything but hostile, it’s a sweet berry purple with purple holographic for extra fun. I’m wearing two coats with a glossy topcoat.
Here Fishy, Fishy!
I mentioned earlier that some of the polishes in this release are richly pigmented enough for stamping. Using Venus Fly Trap as the base, I stamped on the fishes using Flamingle and Concord. The image is from the Lina Summer 01 Stamping plate. The lines were painted on in Trite, Concord, Flamingle and Aquatic using a fine line brush from Winstonia.
Swirly Whirly Watermarble
I was beyond surprised by how well these polishes watermarbled. They spread easily on the water, and with how the colors play so nicely together, I hope to try a different design sometime. I topped this twice with glossy topcoat.
Floral Gradient Stamping
Wrapping these up with some sweet florals. Unsuprisingly, I just can’t resist doing florals for Spring, especially with such fun shades. I was able to use all the polishes here, using a layered gradient stamping to show off how well they blend into each other. Also, you can kind of tell that some are a lot more opaque than others and better suited for stamping. The base here is Vapid’s Happy Freakin’ New Year 2017 and the stamped images are from the Uber Chic Collection 23, Plate 1. It’s topped with glossy topcoat.
Apart from the settling with Concord, these polishes are what we’ve come to expect of Vapid Lacquer’s quality and consistency. Delanie of Fat Cat Pawlished has performed a live swatch of these polishes which you can view.
Making its debut in the launch are Vapid’s Bath Bombs in Buttermilk and a milk free alternative. This will be a test launch with later restocks in the future. There will also be some fun, new scents, as well as a limited pour restocking of Clique and No Can Do Sugar Cube. If you’ve had your eyes on those two, now’s your chance.
Vapid Lacquer April Spring Release is scheduled for Saturday, April 28th at 1 pm CST. Each polish will be available individually, not as a set. As usual, prices as not posted ahead of time.
Krys constantly updates with information and pictures in the Vapicorn Facebook Group. Expect an update before the release next Saturday!
